The Superhero of My Life ♥

What is a father? As defined by the dictionary, it means a man who is acting as a parent. By definition, this recognizes those who are genetic fathers, through bloodline, and those who have stepped into this empowering role. But for me, a dad is someone who wants to catch you before you fall but instead picks you up, brushes you off, and lets you try again. A dad is someone who wants to keep you from making mistakes but instead lets you find your own way, even though his heart breaks in silence when you get hurt. A dad is someone who holds you when you cry, scolds you when you break the rules, shines with pride when you succeed, and has faith in you even when you fail.

My father, Cornelio Antioquia Colocado, has always been a friend and a hero for me. Ever since I was born, he had been there at my side through my hardships and success in life. He never failed to give me the care and love I needed. He shows me the difference between what’s right and wrong. Whenever I needed help, he’s always to the rescue. That’s why for me, he is my SUPERHERO.

Last Sunday, we had just celebrated Father’s Day. It is one of the most important dates in their lives. So, my sister and I thought of a great plan to celebrate it with our father. My father seldom eat sweets like ice cream, it is because he budgets our daily expenses. He prioritizes what we needed the most. So, with our money, we surprised our father buy buying him an ice cream. Our hearts were full of joy when we saw our father smile once again. For me, the most precious gift that we can give to our father is our eternal love and care that no one can ever take nor buy. It doesn’t matter if you can’t buy your father the most popular gadgets, things or clothes. What matters the most is the thought of why we celebrate father’s day. It is to reminisce the sacrifices and hardships, which are father went through in order to get us to what we are now.

I can sacrifice a lot of things for my father. Just like what he has done for me. I will never ever forget to give my father the love, care and support that he needs. I will always tell him that I love him very much. We should never forget that even if are busy growing up, our parents are also growing old. We should never waste any minute of our time on not telling our father that we love him very much because every time is a good time to say it. We’ll never know if it will be his last.

            (F)irm, (a)lways, (t)ender (h)earted, (e)ndorsing, (r)eform

Yes, a father is firm, always. But, he is tender hearted, and he is forever endorsing reform. Your father wants you to become your best self. At his core, he wants you to succeed. And, regardless of where you are in your journey, he loves you unconditionally. He is is my friend, my hero but most importantly, he is my father. I LOVE YOU PAPA!
